Elective 4D Ultrasound
On Saturday, we went to First Peek Ultrasound in Oak Park to do an elective ultrasound. This facility is just an ultrasound clinic, there are no medical professionals. Most doctors offices do not perform 4D ultrasounds unless they feel they need to detect certain features of the babies that do not show up well on the 2D ultrasounds. Its very expensive and the insurance companies don't like to cover these (so my doctor told me). With all the possible chromosomal defects that Zoe "could have", Mike and I wanted to do this for our own sanity. I personally needed to do this to also start feeling connected to my daughter. I've just been so disconnected because I'm fearful of what the future may bring. The first three (3) photos are of sweet little Zoe at 23 weeks. The very last photo is of Zander at 22 weeks. Personally, I think they could pass as twins. They look identical in these pictures. Seeing her beautiful features has put my mind at ease. I know this little girl will be perfect in every way.
A few people have suggested that I pick up "The Secret" by Rhonda Byme. They explained how powerful this book is and is worth purchasing. After one of my cousins wrote me, I literally downloaded it to my kindle and started reading it on the way to work. It truly is powerful and I will take the mantra "Live Positive and Positive things will come your way". I'm no longer going to dwell on the possible outcomes and possible surgeries. My daughter will be perfect. If she has a heart defect, it will be fixable.
I never expected my blog to reach as many people as it has. I solely did this for my own "therapy" and to keep my family and close friends apprised of Zoe's situation. I'm completely humbled by all of your generosity, compassion and heart felt stories. Some of you I have never met, Some of you I haven't seen or talked to since high school or college, but all of your support and out reach to Mike & I has been truly amazing and I'm deeply humbled. All I can say is "Thank You" and I know that isn't enough. Thank you for bringing our story up in your church and bible groups. Thank you for asking if we would like any referrals. Thank you for offering to watch Zander so Mike & I can spend time together. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
xoxo
