Its 12:15 a.m. and I should be sleeping. I shouldn't have had all that coffee at my father-in-law's 60th birthday party (although it did have some bailey's in it, so you think I would just crash). I thought I would work on uploading some pictures, work on our shutterfly sharesite and the blog.
Zoe is doing so amazing. Mike and I and the doctors cannot be any happier. Monday morning I took Zoe in for a weight check and for the RSV shot. She weighed 8 lbs, 12 oz. Our pediatrician is amazing and is really pushing to make sure Zoe gets everything that is possible out there. I explained to her that Children's wouldn't give Zoe the RSV shot because she didn't meet their criteria. She was 38 gestational weeks and wasn't on heart meds, so by the handbook, she did not meet the requirements. However with the help of the nurse and our pediatrician, they contacted my insurance company, gave them all the details on Zoe and told them in addition to her heart defects she has a brother at home. We got the shot ($2,100 for one shot). Thank goodness for insurance!
Today was another weight check, our baby girl is putting on an ounce a day! She's now 9 lbs, .5 oz. She told us we can now let her go 5 hours without eating if she doesn't wake on her own. One extra hour of sleep, I'll take it.
She's cooing and smiling up a storm these days. Loves to look around and really loves the interaction. I feel like she's no longer looking like a newborn. I was talking to one of my best friends (who has a daughter 2 months older than Zoe, almost to the day) that its sad to put clothes and items away that the kids will never use or fit into again since we're done having kids. You never realize how fast time goes by until you have kids. I've already started a bin of clothes that don't fit her anymore (all newborn sizes). :(
So where do we go from here? We have to continue to monitor Zoe's sweating (she's a very dewey baby), monitor her milk intake and coloring. She's now in between the prime time for heart failure for VSD holes. I only hope and pray that she continues to get stronger so when surgery is upon us, she's big enough to handle it. We see the cardiologists and the pediatric surgeon the week after Easter, as well as Zoe's 2 month check up. I feel like all we do is visit doctors.
I had my 6 week follow up (yes can you believe Zoe is 6 weeks old already?!?) with my OB, Dr. Foley. I showed Zoe off like any proud mother would do. He is very medical and has a really dry personality, but he's a fantastic doctor. I teared up when he teared up when he said that Mike and I are blessed and that Zoe was meant for us and she's one special baby. He hugged me twice and said I'll see you in a year, and I joked, unless something else happens....then I confirmed, no seriously, I'll see you in a year with new pictures of my kids :) (fact: we're done having kids, the chances of having another heart baby goes up and I can't put another child through this, let alone us. 18 weeks (and 31 days thereafter) was enough pain for anyone to endure, and little Zoe isn't even done yet)
And I'll leave you with some recent pictures of the kiddos....I know I'm biased, but I do have some pretty cute kids. :)
She adorable.
