Can't believe tomorrow will be two weeks since Zoe's open heart surgery. Its truly amazing how fast time flies by. She's doing so good. I always thought she was active before, but I feel since her heart has been "fixed", she's a whole new baby. She's like her brother, the never ending energetic bunny. She's always on the go. Mike and I call her the "ninja". She's so quick and into everything and I mean everything. Whatever Zander has and he leaves it and runs off somewhere, if you turn your back for one sec, Zoe is already into Zander's goodies. She's quiet and then when you say "No No No Zoe", she just has a smile from ear to ear (as usual).
She's cutting another tooth (on the top), so its sleepless nights for me, but its ok. I feel more at ease with her now. I'll always worry about her heart, I think any mother in my shoes would do the same. I just feel a whole sense of relief, its too hard to even describe. This CHD life we live, (and the other parents in this community can attest to this) is hard, but so rewarding.
Our neighbors have cooked us gourmet meals for these last 2 weeks. We've received so many wonderful gifts for Zoe from complete strangers. Its so amazing to see how other people are rooting for Zoe. She's my inspiration, but its so wonderful to hear, she's others as well. She really exemplifies to not sweat the small stuff. She ALWAYS has a smile on her face. She's been through more than most people will ever have in their lifetime. Never take a day for granted.
We have an echo on Wednesday and then Thursday she gets the sterry strips taken off, and her incision examined. Hopefully she passes with flying colors.
Today is my first day back at work :(. Going better than I expected, but I miss my kids!
The benefit is almost here, hope to see you there!
So happy to hear that she is doing so well.Praying all goes well for her echo and apps.
ReplyDeleteYou know, we heard so many times from all of Izzy's doctors and nurses and from random people how well she was doing before her surgery--she looked good, she was fairly active even if a little behind in her milestones. Even when she got too exhausted to do much, she was still trying and we were still hearing how great it was that she was doing so well, considering. And then she came home from her surgery and it was like having a different child :) She is always on the go, always adventurous (at the moment, she is all about climbing), always up for some mischief. And the eating! One of these days I think she may bust right open.......
ReplyDeleteIt is so very wonderful to hear how well Zoe is doing and how much energy she has! Way to go, Zoe!
