Memorial Day Weekend

Its Wednesday already, thank goodness.  Closer to the weekend!

We had a great Memorial Day weekend.  We were outside enjoying the beautiful, but HOT, weather Chicago had.  Zander has a pretty sweet tan going on, while I'm fried like a lobster.  I loaded up the kids with sunscreen but forgot to put some on myself.  Sporting the red look isn't so stylish, not to mention, doesn't feel that great either!

Mike was off most of the weekend, so we were able to enjoy the warm weather and the kids together. Nothing like living close to Little Italy. We love walking up to Mario's to get some Italian Ice!

We literally were outside all day long.  Luckily Zander has his daddy's great skin that turns brown instantly.  Thank goodness for splash tables too.  Kept Z busy for hours.

You think she's keeping her bright blue eyes?  I sure do!  Mike doesn't think they will stay blue, we have a fun little bet going on (if they don't turn brown, I get a new pair of shoes, if they do, he gets new workout gear).  Zander's eyes were already brown by 12 weeks old.  She's nearly 4 months old and they are still blue as ever!

Over the weekend we drove down to Pontiac to visit one of my best friends, Lisa.  They drove up from Missouri to visit and a bunch of us met them at her parents house.  I miss her so much.  We lived together in college and after college.  Living 8 hours away from each other doesn't allow you that many visits.  We're lucky if we get to see each other twice a year.  We all would make a yearly trip out of going to the Lake of the Ozarks but since most of us have babies or are pregnant, the trips have stopped for a few years.  Lisa is currently pregnant with her 2nd daughter due in October.  Bella (2.5 years old) and Zander (22.5 months) were two crazy peas in a pod.  My son loves blondes.

And this was taken in April 2011....

My friends Lauren, Tatiana, Amy and Katie all were able to make the big get together.  Unfortunately, Katie's daughter, Lucy, was sick so she's not pictured here and we were missing a few other friends due to illnesses or living out of state.

Here's the newest members of the group:

Colin (3 weeks), Michael (5.5 months) and Zoe (3.5 months) (and Harper (4.5 months) pictured below with Zoe, she was napping when the other picture was taken)

Johnny (4 years old), Zander (22.5 months), Bella (2.5 years old), Liliana (2 years old) and Lyla (2 years old)

And this was taken last year in April, fun to see how much they all change in a years time.

Its been fun having all the kids together because we all had kids in late 2009, 2010 and now in 2012, so they are all around the same age.

Feeling a bit nostalgic since seeing my girls this past weekend.  I'm very fortunate that I'm still close with alot of the girls from college (and all our hubbies are good friends).  I try to organize a get together a few times a year.  We used to see each other every weekend, then we all got married (most all in 2008-2009), had/have babies, so our time is limited.  But we've been through it all together!   Thought I'd share some pictures, blasts from the past...

Many people have asked how Zoe is doing.  She's doing amazing!  She's hitting the 4 month growth spurt because she's now getting up around 2-3 a.m. instead of 5 a.m.  That's ok, I'm actually so used to not sleeping that well due to always checking on Zander or Zoe in the middle of the night.  She's still in our room in the bassinet, however we do have to move her to the crib.  She's still swaddled so she can't move that well, but I'm fearful of the day that she does break free and rolls (she has rolled from belly to back a few times, and has almost rolled from back to belly).  Zander now understands to be quiet when Zoe is trying to sleep.  I've taught him to whisper, so I think moving her to the crib won't be as bad as I thought.   I think its more of an issue with me.  She's close to me, I can grab her immediately and I can hear her breathing.   She's an extremely happy child.  She's so calm and goes with the flow.  My sister says you don't even realize she's in the room because she's so quiet.  Polar opposites from Zander.  He's crazy and overly active!
She's currently drinking 5-6 oz at each feed.  I'm curious to see if our pediatrician will want us to start rice cereal after her 4 month check up next week.  I'm not sure if anything is different with a heart baby.   She still sweats alot.  I call her "Sweaty Betty" (which she giggles every time she hears it).  As of now, no pellets are dripping down her face or on her brow bone, so we're not alarmed.  I just keep track of it.  Like I stated above, she's giggling a ton now, grabs all her toys, can hold onto a rattle, puts everything in her mouth, holds her head up, rolls (occasionally).  To me, she's right on track!  The physical therapist says she has 100% full range when she moves her head side to side now.  Her head is still flat, but getting better.  So we're hoping no need for a helmet!

She's just perfect!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
